Enemy Territory Crashes -- Only ETPro 3.1.x; FC3

Hey Gang,

New Poster here... Searched the forum and haven't found anything really close to my problem. I've also posted on the ND80 forums and the ETPro forums, and noone there has been any help at all. I have installed Enemy Territory several times and deleted all the ET files (/usr/local/games/enemy-territory/* & ~/.etwolf/*).

The first time I install the game, everything works normally. The game runs just fine. I download necessary paks and connect to the server and play. However, the second time I run ET, I cannot connect to ETPro servers. I can connect to Shrub and ETMain servers just fine, however. If I delete the ETPro folders in /usr/local/games/enemy-territory/... and ~/.etwolf/ it still doesn't help. I have to completely delete the folders and reinstall. The following is the console output from the game when it crashes.

Quote:
-------- UNRECOVERABLE ERROR --------
This may be due to a bug in etpro
Information to be used in a bug report is being generated:
------------- CUT HERE --------------
Version: etpro 3.1.0
Platform: Linux
Signal: Segmentation violation (11)
Stack trace: 1 entries
/home/kevin/.etwolf/etpro/cgame.mp.i386.so[0xef48ef55]
------------- CUT HERE --------------
Trying to clean up...
Received signal 11, exiting...
Shutdown tty console
/usr/local/bin/et: line 5: 4762 Segmentation fault ./et.x86 $*
If you need me to go further up the console, please let me know.

Thanks, Kevin Druff

I could not solve the problem. I tried gentoo and everything was fine except that as soon I get in on server the server starts to lag as hell. When I go out it works fine. I bought an extra HD and installed Win XP and ET. Everything works perfect + my fps got higher. Windows is for gaming. I use linux for everything else. When I used FC 1 I never had this prob. Switch back!!!!::((((

Hmmm...
LOL... running Windblow$
(been there done that! - never again!)

ok, to the serious answers then:
I tried to get the latest update to et and reinstall it, but same happends now...
One slight difference:
Half of my texture is out of order, and my (very nice) gfx card goes very heavy... I usually drive everything extreme in the settings on my nVidia 5950 Ultra with no performance loss.

I got to think of something on my own... What if it has to do with xorg?
I think that I upgraded xorg since my last post, and now I'm running
xorg-x11-6.7.0-11
(and all other xorg-modules at 6.7.0-11)
And before that I also run an xorg version that were not the latest official releas from fedora.

Anyone who can verify / decline?
What versions of xorg do you other run (KeDruff and minjos)?
What version do you run ax-enigma-ax?

Problem solved...
First I tried to downgrade xorg to an earlier version: 6.7.0-2
That didn't help, I went back to another kernel (from 2.6.9_1.6FC2) to 2.6.8-1.521
That didn't either help.
Then I downgraded nVidias drivers from 1.0-6629 to 1.0-6111
and That did solve all of my problems!

Now I just have to tell nVidia.. but actually I'm so f*ck*ng tired so I just have to wait with that.

I figured out the problem. You have to turn pre-linking off to get ETpro < 3.1.6 to work.
