Downloading the doom3 binaries

How do I save them? I try and download them and it just seems togo on and on. What am doing wrong?

The installations instructions are also unclear, once I download them, then what?

IE and other browsers recognise that the .run files are actually part shell code!. so they try to open them in a web page like source code. You need to right click on the link and select 'save location as' (save with appropriate name and extension) Otherwise your browser will spen eternity trying to open it..

I had a look at the file extension and it says it'sa shell scipt so I have renamed the thing doom3-linux-1.1.1286.x86.sh? instead of *.run. THEN I tried to execute it as ./*.sh and I got a permission denied message. What am I doing wrong?

I think it's doing this becuase your typing ".sh xxxxxxxxxx.sh"

What your looking for is this I think : "sh doom3-linux-1.1.1286.x86.sh" w/o the quotes of course.

And it's orginally .run correct? Well, raname it back to that.

all you need to do is to run the respective *.run file through sh or set its rights to execute for your user.
[...]$ chmod +rx *.run
