Unhappy Delay in sound in games

I am running Redhat 9.0 and I am having difficulty with the sound in my system in direct relation to games I have been playing. Th sound has been playing from 2-7 seconds after the event that triggered it happens. The games it is happening with are Scorched 3D, Frozen Bubble, Linux Breakout 2, LMarbles. Surprisingly it is not happening with Torcs. does anyone have some insight into my dillema

Darren
