compressing jar file for minecraft?

So I'm on Minecraft 1.14.4, forge 28.0.45 (check out GDLauncher. It's nifty.) I've got the Treasure Bags mod, and I'm trying to tweak the starting bag loot table.

I uncompressed the jar archive with Ark. I edited the file, then compressed it as a jar archive, also with Ark. It's not being recognized by Forge as a jar archive.

If Ark doesn't work, what should I be using? (OpenJDK is installed.)

A .jar file is a renamed .zip file, so use zip to create it (the info-zip one, not 7zip or ark that can UNzip but do not create the right headers to ZIP it again).

Awesome, thanks! I figured it out, though. If I use Ark to replace the file I changed, it works. Next time I'll use zip instead.
