Cedega/Wine games Installation tutorial

Hi, Im new at using Ubuntu And I would like to play COunter Strike Condition Zero... Problem is I dont know what to use. Wine or Cedega? I first tried to use wine

Cannot display location 'file://wine/media/cdrom0/install.exe'

Details: The specified location is invalid.

When I inserted the CD a window pop up and I tried clicking on the Autorun.exe, czero_setup.exe, setup.exe it keeps saying Couldn't display "/media/cdrom0/czero_setup.exe".There was an error launching the application.

How do I fix this error?

I used this guide to "install" wine

Wine
1.Use Synaptic or apt-get to install the following packages: wine, libwine, and winesetuptk.
2.To Setup Wine: Open a terminal and run “winesetup”. Keep the default *Location of the Wine configuration file* (/.wine/config) and hit <Next>.
3.*Autodetection in Process* comes up and then the *Location of Windows Partition*. The second choice is the default and that is the one we will use. Make sure it looks like this /home/username/.wine/fake_windows and hit <Next>.
4.A configuration window appears with “Look and Finish” . Hit <Finish>.

How do I know Wine/Cedega is succesfully installed? How do I install/run the exe files On the CD
I dont know how to use Cedega to install games>.< I dont even know if I've succesfully installed it. I would really appreciate your help.

Here are a few things to get you started.

1) Never use autorun. It doesn't play nice with WINE. Instead use setup.exe or whatever it is for your game.

2) run winecfg and make sure that under drives tab your cdrom is setup correctly.

3) make sure you mount your CD from a terminal

Code:
su
[enter root password]
mount /dev/hdd /media/cdrom (make this reflect your drive)
4) run your program from a terminal so you can see any errors that come up.

Code:
cd /media/cdrom
wine setup.exe

The real issue here is that the 'Cannot display location 'file://wine/media/cdrom0/install.exe'' means that there is no viewer defined for exe's yet, so right-click the program, click 'open with' and select (or type in) Wine. Bonzer. Also, it's usually better to do it console-wise:
Code:
(once the CD is auto-mounted)
wine /media/cdrom/autorun.exe
or, if you want to go straight to setup:
Code:
(once the CD is auto-mounted)
wine /media/cdrom/setup.exe
