Call of Duty 2 on Linux

Hey guys, my first post! yahhoo! I'm a big, BIG fan of Call of Duty 2, and I was wondering if Activision made COD2 for Linux. I hope thay do, but if not I'll just have to duell boot, I guess.

The ratings in the wine database range from garbage to platinum. You could just try to install it with wine to see if it works. I think the chances of a linux port are rather slim, since the game is based on DirectX. The games that are being ported usually use OpenGL.

You just need to search the wine application-database:
http://appdb.winehq.org/
On the bottom left there is a search field.
Recently they have added a Howto field on top of the comment section. If you scroll down on the Age of Empire page on the WineHQ-AppDB you can see a brief 'HOWTO' on how to install the program/game... hence the name!

Games that don't work, or don't work very well with wine, might work with Cedega, which is a fork of wine. But it isn't free of charge. You could get it for free through subversion - which means you get the source code currently under development. But it's the least compilable source code I've ever seen. Not worth the effort in my humble opinion.
I bought it once, but they won't give you updates unless you continue to pay them regularly. I don't like that concept at all. Plus wine has been catching up a lot lately.

FWIW, I did try installing this game on my PC about a month ago. I got through the first install CD OK but the installation kept locking up after that point so I quit trying.

idk, I was told that it would do look like it hangs, but, it really is still installing.

do you still hear the music?

I can't remember what version of wine it is, but you may only see one block in the loading bar. If you hear the COD2 install music, just leave it alone. It "IS" Installing.
At some point, it should ask you to register or not, and maybe even more questions.
