BZFlag 100% CPU Usage
 

Hey, when I am using fglrx I get this 100% CPU Usage issue with BZFlag. TuxRacer runs at about 90% but BZ just takes up all the idle processes within 2 secs of starting the game.

I am using an ATI Radeon 9000M 64mb card in my laptop. 2.66 GHz 533 P4

Not sure what to do about it at all, using the 3.14,1 drivers for Debian from http://xoomer.virgilio.it/flavio.sta...installer.html - The radeon module that came with my 2.6.8 kernel makes the game run at about 8 fps on minimum specs, ati driver brings it down to 4. fglrx though is at 354 fps but the CPU is super hot due it utilizing 100% of the CPU for some reason.

Sorry, but these have been different topics. This asks them if they have this. The other post was about me only getting 60 FPS, so when I saw it was really getting off topic I asked the question of whether or not the ATI Drivers were normal to go to 100%. I know though that BZFlag taking 100% is NOT normal at all, so I'm asking ppl that play BZFlag (esp with ATI drivers) if they have this problem.

just play bzflag i was using 90%cpu
i have not figure out how to minimze with bzflag playing :)
so i'm working on it :study:

Well you can run the game with the command "bzflag -window -geometry 640x480" to run it in window and if you position the windows right you should be able to see the top CPU rating as you play : ) - you can see if it does go to 100% like me.

- I was talking to a friend of mine who works on building the game a lot. he told me that command and also mentioned to me that it really definately should not go to 100%, we did an oprofile on it and saw that it was definately something to do with the video drivers and how they interact with the game. He let me test out the pre-release version of BZFLag thats slated to come out in December and unfortunately it had the same problem : (.
