I'd just like to announce that I've been working on an enhanced DosBox fork. I'll just link to the release notes, here:

Suffice to say that it's currently in sync with the latest SVN revision, and adds the following features:
- GLSL shaders
- the xBRZ software scaler (if you can't use OpenGL)
- built-in soundfont support (using the FluidSynth libraries)
- built-in MT-32 emulation

The build-time dependency for each feature is in the release notes. If the dependency is not there at built time, then DosBox will be built without that feature.
