America's Army - Assertion `mixbuf.data' failed.

Hi!

I've just installed Armyops into my SUSE 10.0 When I try to run armyops from console it's only shows splash screen and then I get this error message:

Code:
ioctl SETFRAGMENT grab: Invalid argument
armyops-bin: al_mixer.c:735: _alSetMixer: Assertion `mixbuf.data' failed.
Signal: SIGIOT [iot trap]
Aborting.
Never seen this kind of error message before. Maybe some kind of sound problem (maybe alsa?) but not sure. Any ideas?

I have the exact same problem with UT2004.

Also, no game is working with sound or at all. This includes native games like UT2004 or Cedega launched games.

This with SuSe 10.0

I didnt have this problem with the exact same games, on the exact same system, from the exact same install on multiple kernels in Gentoo and Mandrake/Mandriva.

It seems a SuSe10.0/OpenAL problem.

You can trace that file i nthe OpenAL source code. It belongs in function: _alSetMixer With its declaration and comments being

Code:
/*
 * _alSetMixer( ALboolean synchronous )
 *
 * Sets mixer to match the current context. If synchronous is AL_FALSE, a
 * seperate thread is launched.
 *
 * assumes locked context
 */
void _alSetMixer( ALboolean synchronous )

Any information on this would be much appreciated by us.

Is anyone successfully playing games on SuSe 10.0 ??
Maybe Alpha 10.1 has this problem fixed ??
