Hey! I'm a huge Age of Empires fan and would DEFINITELY love to help with this project! I have a years experience in Java, but I am willing to learn C++ or any other languages I might need to participate in this project.
I already have some ideas sprouting that I would like to share with you guys if you want to hear them.

P.S. If you would like a Flash Site for FreeEmpires I'd be glad to do that too
I'm trying to run Age of Empires using wine-0.9.30 on Ubuntu
[...]
wine /path/to/Empires.exe, which won't work, as others on this forum also seem to have experienced.
[...]
AOE(1) experienced a regression somewhere in the wine-0.9.twentysomething vicinity, from whereon it couldn't be run under wine. The problem was fixed in 0.9.36, it should now work again.
I installed Age of Empires 2 (the demo) to my computer. Then I opened the application using wine (which works great) and was at the home page in AOE. I clicked on the tutorials, then I tried opening one. It would go through the book thing, but it always the application always quits before I get to the actual game. Any ideas about what's wrong?
