Question zlib missing for X install????

I'm trying to install X and started with option A of the lfs hints page...

I did make World then make Install but the latter tells me zlib.h is missing and stops... (gunzip.c line 9)

I did locate zlib.h and got
/usr/src/linux2.4.18/arch/ppc/boot/include/zlib.h
/usr/src/linux2.4.18/drivers/net/zlib.h
/usr/src/linux2.4.18/fs/jffs2/zlib.h
/usr/src/xc/exports/include/zlib.h
/usr/src/xc/lib/zlib/zlib.h

It seems to be there but I don't have a clue where to start to fix this prob.... I assume zlib should be a standard header file....

Help??

From what I can see it appears that zlib.h is not installed, only copies from other packages located in the source directory. Make sure you get the latest version, the hints from LFS site should help, especially the XFree86 ones.
