Hi,

If you want to know which host can be used: The LFS liveCD was made for this purpose. All that is needed is present (the host system is ok and all the packages/patches are also on the cd).

Hope this helps.

I recommend using that LFS LiveCD as the host system; it contains everything you need, and that way you won't accidentally be modifying your host system, and on the other hand your host system doesn't create problems when building up your LFS system.

Then again, if a live-cd is out of the question, probably any Linux distribution does as the host system provided that the necessary build tools (compilers etc.) are present there. You can read the beginning of the LFS book to see what's needed; the book tries to go forward in such a manner that the host system wouldn't be troublesome, but probably the LFS LiveCD is better if you can use it.

Hi,

Get the iso at the LFS site. The link you provide is probably ok, but why take the chance.

Did you never burn an iso to cd? You don't need linux to do it, any burn program will do (linux/windows/mac/..).

I'm not sure what you asking about the partitioning.

Hi,

Please read the liveCD page on LFS, it explains all.

In short: the liveCD _is_ your hostsystem.

Hi,

Maybe you should have included the vmware dependency when you started this thread, kinda important information.

Anyway, I've never installed LFS on a virtual machine, cannot help you with that.
