where should $LFS/tools folder appear

Hopefully a quick question.

I'm preparing to build LFS and have worked to end of Ch5 of October 11 iteration.

After the symlink is set up between $LFS/tools and / in the book (p.27), should the tools folder appear in / rather than $LFS?

I'd normally expect to see some kind of link symbol if there's a link between a couple of folders, but I just have the folder 'tools' in / and nothing referring to 'tools' in $LFS - my $LFS was unset a couple of times after I changed ownership of $LFS/sources and $LFS/tools.

I suspect something's gone a little awry and just seeking confirmation before I go any further.

Thanks in advance.

Hi

Mine is always in the root. If you reboot or come out of lfs just make sure you remount it all again and check it,s mounted
Code:
echo $LFS
