Details: LFS 10.0, sysvinit version. Everything works at boot except the console! The console init script gives me a FAIL message. Virtual consoles are set up in spite of this, but with a US keyboard. I'm sure I've made an elementary mistake somewhere.
Code:
# Begin /etc/sysconfig/console
UNICODE="1"
KEYMAP="en_GB-utf8"
FONT=LatGrkCyr-12x22
# End /etc/sysconfig/console
My guess is that KEYMAP isn't a language thing and should instead be set to "uk".
A quick search supports that - this Arch wiki page says "The naming conventions of console keymaps are somewhat arbitrary, but usually they are based on: [639-1 Language codes, Country codes, Keyboard layouts]" and says you can use "localectl list-keymaps" to list available ones. Later on in the page it uses KEYMAP=uk in an example.
