I am need of some assistance please

I am not new to linux so I thought I would give LFS a shot. I am using the LFS 6.o book and have hit a problem in Chapter 5.35 Installalation of Udev.

I have followed the instructions in the book repeatedly with a clean source tree each time but I continue to get the same error.

When I try to issue the final make command [make DESTDIR=/tools udevdir=/dev install] it starts but ends rather abruptly with the following:

sed -e "s:@udevdir@:/dev:" < etc/udev/udev.conf.in > /etc/udev/udev.conf
/usr/bin/install -c -d /tools/etc/udev/rules.d
make: /usr/bin/install: Command not found
make: *** [install-config] Erroe 127

This is being done on an ArchLinux 0.7 host running the 2.6.11.10-ARCH kernel and started with gcc version 3.4.3

I have also tried to manually edit the files udevstart.c and udev.conf.in to see if that would make a difference as they are normally write protected. It does not.
