tar-command not found while compiling glibc-libidn-2.7.tar.bz2 of lfs6.3

hi , i am facing a problem during the compilation of the glibx-libidn . while using tar command in chroot environment it gives error command not found , so i manually untared it . but problem was increased when 'make' command was given , during compilation it unpacks some packages using gzip .but again it says with error: command not found.
plz help me how to run these command in chroot environment . these command runs well out side chroot environment.

thanx for the help

The tar command was to be installed in LFS-6.3 chapter 5.27
glibc-libidn would be in LFS-6.3 chapter 6.9.1 using the tar installed by chapter 5.
Check that tar was actually installed as stated in chapter 5.
Check your path for misspelling.

You are using a version different from the released book. Use the version in the book to avoid unknown complications later on. It is definitely the easiest way, the tested way.
