Problems with keyboard layouts

I've installed LFS and BLFS the last days. So far it runs pretty good but I just have one problem with my keyboard. I've researched the web, man-pages and blfs-instructions for hours but havent found an answer yet.

At the beginning I havent had any keyboard maps in /etc/X11/xkb. The directories were there but without any contents (except some readme files). Thats why I couldnt find any entries in the KDE Control Center - Regional & Accessibility - Keyboard Layout.

So for the beginning I used xmodmap to get my "Alt-Gr" (I think its the Meta-key on english keyboards but Im not quite sure) working. But now I'd also like to get the Windows-Key (for additional shortcuts) and the multimedia keys running which I couldnt managed so far using xmodmap (At least not the Windows-Key).

Next, I tried to copy the existing /etc/X11/xkb files from an existing working Ubuntu version. As a result of this I now got some entries in the KDE control center. But somehow it doesnt take any effect, no matter which model/layout/variant I choose. It also doesnt take an effect if I place the right values for model/layout in the xorg.conf.

I dont know whats the problem but really hope to get an answer here.

Thanks in advance, Jonathan
