Problem on config glibc-2.3.4

Hi folks,

lfs-6.1.1
lfs-livecd-6.1.1 as host

6.11. Glibc-2.3.4
Problem on configuring glibc-2.3.4 with following warning popup;
Code:
...
checking for gcc... gcc
checking for suffix of object files... configure: error: cannot compute suffix of object files: cannot compile
See `config.log' for more details.
Checked "/glibc-build/config.log" nothing further mentioned only the same line as mentioned above.

# cd sources/glibc-2.3.4
# gcc -v
Code:
Reading specs from /usr/lib/gcc/i686-pc-linux-gnu/3.4.3/specs
Configured with: ../gcc-3.4.3/configure --prefix=/usr --libexecdir=/usr/lib --enable-shared --enable-threads=posix --enable-__cxa_atexit --enable-clocale=gnu --enable-languages=c,c++
Thread model: posix
gcc version 3.4.3
# cd tools/bin/
# ./gcc -v
Code:
Reading specs from /mnt/lfs/tools/bin/../lib/gcc/i686-pc-linux-gnu/3.4.3/specs
Configured with: ../gcc-3.4.3/configure --prefix=/tools --libexecdir=/tools/lib --with-local-prefix=/tools --disable-nls --enable-shared --enable-languages=c
Thread model: posix
gcc version 3.4.3

Having found following URL
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...d.php?t=339554

Created symlink as advised there.

# ls -l /bin/
Code:
......
lrwxrwxrwx  1 root root     13 2005-12-27 18:38 gcc -> tools/bin/gcc
.....
Remark: "gcc" is red colour, not the same colour as other symlinks(light-blue)

But its solution did not work here.

Re-ran config glibc-2.3.4 with same warning popup;
Code:
checking for gcc... gcc
checking for suffix of object files... configure: error: cannot compute suffix of object files: cannot compile
See `config.log' for more details.
Kindly advise. TIA

Remark: having skipped Section 5.11. GCC-3.4.3 - Pass 2
please refers to following URL

I had the same problem. Double check your sym links. I was missing /tools/lib/libgcc_s.so.1.
