problem installing inetutils


after running the make and make install command given in section 6.31 it showed parse errors.and when the command

mv /usr/bin/ping /bin

was run it showed

mv:cannot stat '/usr/bin/ping' : No such file or directory
please help.

You should considering reinstall this package

tried doing that but it doesnt work

What's your configure command? Had you got any error during built?

./configure --prefix=/usr --libexecdir=/usr/sbin \
--sysconfdir=/etc --localstatedir=/var \
--disable-logger --disable-syslogd \
--disable-whois --disable-servers
no error occured

Make install again && type -p ping to find out. Its really strange

make[2]:*** [ctl.o] Error 1
make[1]:*** [all-recursive] Error1
make:*** [all] Error2

after makeinstall following errors were reported-:
make[1]:*** [ctl.o] Error 1
make:*** [install-recursive] Error1

after running type -p ping the follwing message was reported-:
/bin/ping

Oh, no!!! Have you chrooted before run 'type -p ping'? I think, your building system had been damaged and you should rebuild from scratch
