Problem in Chapter 5.7

Hello! To the beginning sorry for my bad english i came from Germany....
A now to my problem in chapter 5.7 Adjusting the Toolchain
Is the following to point GCC to the new dynamic linker:

Code:

SPECFILE=`dirname $(gcc -print-libgcc-file-name)`/specs &&
gcc -dumpspecs > $SPECFILE &&
sed 's@^/lib/ld-linux.so.2@/tools&@g' $SPECFILE > tempspecfile &&
mv -vf tempspecfile $SPECFILE &&
unset SPECFILE

If i enter this i became following bash error:

bash: $SPECFILE: ambiguous redirect

Where is the problem?

Hello and Welcome etc.

This problem pops up now and again, and it is usually a typo:

SPECFILE=`dirname $(gcc -print-libgcc-file-name)`/specs

The highlighted symbols are backtics, which are below the escape key for me.
