Problem compiling Bash
I have downloaded all the files for LFS 4.1 and done all the preparation described in the beginning of chapter 5 (added lfs user, set up environment, etc.).
There is nothing mentioned about unpacking the tar files, like where they should go, ownership, etc. Should they all be unpacked in the $LFS/static directory? After compiling and running make and make install, where will the files be installed?
I'm kind of dumb about some of this, but it seems like there was an important step left out of the book.

ownership. You should probably run a 'chown lfs *' in the $LFS/static directory
unpacking: I unpacked them all in the $LFS/static
It doesn't seem like that much of an important step. But that's just my opinion.

Thanks for the help.
I thought it was kind of an important step, mainly because up to that point the book pretty much told every step, what to download, every command to type, etc. Then all of a sudden we're compiling.
Maybe I shouldn't be trying this, but it looks like fun.
