Thanks, ReaperX7 - I was able to boot into the new LFS system without much trouble after reconfiguring the GRUB in the host Slackware. I was looking at your other GRUB config posts prior to transitioning from LILO to GRUB, and I'll take another look because there is some re-configuring necessary (e.g., GRUB config recognized both my generic and huge kernels, but the boot splash only gives an option for the huge, etc.)

I am having trouble with the LFS system in that the psuedo-filesystems aren't mounting on boot (not an fstab issue, probably a lfs-bootscript issue) which I'll take up in a separate post, if necessary.

Check your fstab against the book's. Might be a bad configuration.
