Unhappy please let me boot

my PC:
hda: 80GB, ntfs, win2k
hdb: 6GB, ntfs, documents
hdc: CD
hdd: 40GB, willing to install linux

well, I have deal with the LFS in my whole week.
FAIL!!!
it seems that the LILO do not work!!!

My Question:
how to make a bootable LILO???
or
how to make a boot floppy for LFS???

well
I have first tried to install LFS by redhat 9
hdd1: 100MB, ext3, /boot
hdd2: 1000MB, swap
hdd3: 1000MB, /tmp
hdd5: 20GB, / (redhat)
hdd6: 15GB+, / (LFS)
LILO is installed in hdd1, but it is not work before installing LFS.
it just give me a nice "L" only , without any other comments.
I have to use bootdisk to boot the RH.
then, I install all LFS package into hdd6.
but still cannot boot up.

Second method, install LFS by knoppix!!!
hdd1: 100MB, ext3, /boot
hdd2: 1000MB, swap
hdd3: 1000MB, /tmp
hdd4: 30GB+, / (LFS)
LILO is installed in hdd1, not work again!!!
again, LILO just give me a nice "L" only, without any other comments.

okok, I think I should not put the LILO in /hdd1
third try: use RH again:
hdd1: 100MB, ext3, /boot
hdd2: 1000MB, swap
hdd3: 1000MB, /tmp
hdd5: 20GB, / (redhat)
hdd6: 15GB+, / (LFS)
LILO is installed in hda, not work!!!
it just give me a nice "L" only , without any other comments!!!
not only that, I cannot boot the win2k system!!!
( I use the win2k cdrom -> fixmbr -> then the win2k back to normal )

My Question:
how to make a bootable LILO???
or
how to make a boot floppy for LFS???

thx

Well, what is the exact command you gave to put lilo on the mbr? And did you try to do it in the cdroot-ed enviroment? The book explicitly tell's you not to do that.
You can alway's put lilo on a floppy fist by doing "lilo -v -b /dev/fd0".

This doesn't look too good:

http://www.tldp.org/HOWTO/Bootdisk-HOWTO/a1483.html

It could be the H.D., but I doubt it. What does your /etc/lilo.conf look like?

when you do 'lilo -v', does it give you errors?

well, I have read the document before
but the screen just tell "L" without any two-digit trace out.

Well, I will try to push the lilo into floppy
but not now
I have to deal with my homework, canntot spare time to deal with the LFS problem.
