Permission denied?

I'm in ch #5
I.ve looked through && serched the forums but could not find an answer for this.
When I try to compile && install gawk i get permission denied for the awklib/Makefile.in The file manager has the owner listed as #2074 ? can I just change the ownership of thease and other files? this happend with another install and I changed the owner to user=lfs . Will this be happening alot?
------
One more ? How do I use the downloaded command scripts. I can't find any info on entering them to the bash command line.

When you unpacked the gawk package the unpacked files should be owned by whoever unpacked them (should be user "lfs").

Remove the gawk directory (as root if needed) and try to unpack it again as user "lfs".
