pcmcia-cs in LFS 5.0? I need it for network...

finally my LFS 5 distro is done, except for this: my xircom ethernet card doesn't work... I downloaded the pcmcia-cs package, using the host system to get it on my LFS, configured it, compiled it, all without a problem. now I load the core (modprobe pcmcia_core) wich works, but now? modprobe xirc2ps_cs crashes real hard (kernel panic) unfortunatly I don't have access to it right now so I can't upload the error, but maybe someone has an idea? btw: I can compile the 2.6 kernel as well, wich seems to work ok since that's running on the host but would this affect the installation of other stuff? I have compiled all things earlier with the supplied kernel headers of course... :S

Sorry I can't help with your hardware (ethernet) problem, other than to suggest that you look at what works on your host system and take that as your starting point for Scratch. As for the 2.6 kernel, I also use the 2.4 headers to build Scratch but at the end of the book I don't build a 2.4 kernel at all, I just go with a current (2.6.4) kernel. I install module-init-tools instead of modutils, obviously.
Your crash sounds worrying. Does it leave anything usefull in /var/syslog?

ok thanks, in that case I just install the 2.6 kernel much easier than scrolling through the logs
