Package Mangement Ideas

I did Cross Linux from Scratch a few months ago and while it was an educational experience, the lack of a package management system really got to me. When I installed an application, I was at the complete mercy of the install script. So I looked around and I found the paco package manager: Look at the Description at the bottom of the page to see how it works.

I am considering having another go at CLFS with paco. I was wondering if anyone here has used paco or another package manager with CLFS (or any form of LFS) before? If so how did it work?

I use the weibullwatch script you can get from the CBLFS site --> Works perfectly well for me. But then I wrote it, so I sorta have to use it don't I? Hehe.

In any event paco was written to be used with LFS so it should work just hunky dory. You can also install rpm, portage, apt, or any other package manager if you really want. Of course, how long would it be before you had a Fedora, Gentoo, or Debian system using one of those package managers? Something to consider, if you really need a package manager, maybe you don't really need CLFS.
