no usb CDROM and MD_CRYPT_ENAB unknown

Hi all,

I just built and installed Linux using LFSLive cd 6.3. The new system goes multi user OK, I can log in, but I cannot mount the usb CD drive - there is no file /dev/scd*. This is the same cd drive that I used to run the LFSLive cd.
usb 1-1: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 4
usb 1-1: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice
scsi2 : SCSI emulation for USB Mass Storage devices
usb-storage: device found at 4
usb-storage: waiting for device to settle before scanning
scsi 2:0:0:0 CD-ROM PLEXTOR DVDR PX-716A 1.01 PQ: 0 ANSI: 0 CCS
usb-storage: device scan complete

So is it wrong to expect a file /dev/scd0 at this point?

I am reading about udev maybe I'll run across what's wrong.

Also I get sys console message:
configuration error - unknown item 'MD_CRYPT_ENAB' when logging in. I'm not sure where it's from.

Thanks in advance for any assistance, regards, Drake.

Oooops, my bad, I just had to enable SCSI support in kernel menuconfig, it works as expected now. With no naming rules the drive is presented as /dev/sr0, not surprisingly.

I still get the warning at system console:
"configuration error - unknown item 'MD_CRYPT_ENAB' (notify administrator)". This is seen when a login attempt is made, right after username is entered, before the password prompt is presented.

Golly, I wonder if this is another menuconfig issue. Anyway, we live and we learn, and another one bites the dust.
