new partition is not recognize

I'm just starting my way in LFS (6.6). After creating new partition and "mke2fs -jv /dev/sda3" I get :

Could not stat /dev/sda3 --- No such file or directory

looks like it doesn't recognize the new sda3 , any ideas ?
(I tried to add it to /etc/fstab, no luck. )

Thanks

Hi,

You probably skipped chapter 2.2. Creating a New Partition.

The output of the command in post #2 will tell if this is so.

Hope this helps.
