NetworkManager builds and runs at startup but no internet

Each time I rebuild my LFS system I build the latest NetworkManager. The current version is 1.6.2. It builds and runs and reports OK but no internet access. I then always fall back to version 1.0.10. I have not had any luck with any version greater then 1.0.10.

I follow the instructions on the LFS NetworkManager page.
http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/blfs...rkmanager.html

Other then that, I'm not sure what else I can do. Any ideas? Is there a feature I should enable/disable that is not specified on the LFS page?

Did you bring down what ever else was controling your network before?
wpa_supplicant, dhcp, as noted on that page. I use systemd so not good with init, did you start NetworkManager? did you try with nmcli or nmtui?

Can you ping the router? or is it the internet you cant reach.

Did you install all deps required and recommended

I'm not sure I understand the question. With version 1.0.10, all I need for it to work is dbus-glib, iptables, libndp, libnl, newt, nss, gobject-introspection and libgudev which is mostly under the "required" section and some of which is under the "recommended" section.

no because I shouldn't need them and the configure doesn't specifically require them. With dhcp, I shouldn't even need network manager.

Yes, it starts on boot and displays OK.

no.

Only some of the recommended.

nmcli and nmtui is part of networkmanager it will let you add the wpa passwd for the router, which you are not connected to. So from a root terminal run nmtui will give you a ncurses box see if that helps to connect.
