net-tools make: *** [hostname.o] Error 1

On booting i get the following error:

ifconfig: command not found
hostname: command not found
route: command not found

'ifconfig' and 'route' along with the other tools in net-tools have not made it into LFS.

So on trying to re-install net-tools i get the following error message when i run 'make':

make: *** [hostname.o] Error 1

How can i correct this?

1) for net tools, try looking in BLFS (www.linuxfromscratch.org/blfs)

2) The error message you give isn't very informative. What does it say before the error message? (compilation errors, warnings, etc)

Try installing the patches on the BLFS net-tools page. There is one there that specifically fixes a problem relating to netdnet/dn.h.

Quick answer is not to build in decnet support. Do you REALLY need decnet support?
