In lfs users are created later on you should only have user root at the moment.
Adding a new user is carried out in "blfs"

sainadh, in chapter "6.25. Shadow" you should have set the root password.
Now, to solve your situation, since you can't boot your other OS (Slackware) either, you can boot from a live image such as SytemRescueCd, grml or GParted Live.
From there you can chroot again into LFS and set the root password with "passwd". You should also edit your lilo.conf and run lilo.

edit: Also, please don't double-post: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...rd-4175519179/

Yes you can start BLFS. Be aware most of the BLFS book will require the utilities mentioned in the last section of the LFS book to get a working system for you, especially dhclient, lynx, wget, openssl, and ca-certificates.
