Hi,
Is there any clue in the logfile(s)?
I've seen this behavior once before and it was related to overheating (in this specific case cpu temp of a laptop). It resulted in the same behavior: Putting a (heavy) load on the cpu caused the system to restart after a while (within minutes). 'Normal' operation was also problematic although it took up to an hour (or 2) before the laptop restarted.
After cleaning the hardware (airflow was blocked by gathered 'dust') all was ok.
If you have lm_sensors installed it can also be that the configuration isn't correct. It's a bit hard to give you any pointers, because lm_sensors is very hardware specific.
Hope this helps.

Hi,
This looks like a name resolving problem.
You mention that after starting LFS all seems to be working, but what happens if you try pinging an address from the commandline/terminal:
ping www.linuxquestions.org
Does that actually work or is ping unable to resolve the www.linuxquestions.org part? If this doesn't work, then you need to set up a correct /etc/resolv.conf. Take a look at LFS 6.2 chapter 7.13.3. (Creating the /etc/resolv.conf File).
Hope this helps.

Hi,
If ping <name> works then name resolving is probably not the problem. It could be that the kde browser (Konqueror?) isn't configured correctly, but I'm not familiar with that browser and cannot help you with that.
Is your browser the only program that has problems connecting to the outside world or do other programs have problems as well?
Try setting up a ftp session or use lynx (if installed). If those work, then konquerer is probably not configured correctly.
Not much to go on, but I hope this helps anyway.
