Exclamation My kernel will not build, help!

Hi all,
So I have finished my LFS system and am onto building the kernel. I extract the kernel package and run:
Code:
make mrproper
When I run this, I get the following error:
Code:
gcc: internal compiler error: Segmentation fault signal terminated program cc1
Please submit a full bug report,
with preprocessed source if appropriate.
See <https://gcc.gnu.org/bugs/> for instructions.
I submitted this to GCC Bugzilla but nobody's replied.
I am using Linux 5.16.11 kernel (Latest stable one at time of writing)

I thought it was just the Linux kernel, so I made a simple Hello World! C program and compiled it:
Code:
gcc helloworld.c
And it still resulted in the same error message.

This has happened to me before so I just abandoned it, but now it's getting on my nerves and I really want a finished LFS system.

By the way, I also tried:
Code:
make mrproper -j1
and the same thing still happened.

Please help!
It would be much appreciated.

This means your build of gcc is faulty.

Ok so should I build it again or build LFS over from scratch?

You could try using this gcc to rebuild itself. The worst that can happen is that it crashes in the same way. In that case, you will at least know that you have to repeat the build.
