mounting hdb1-3 (gentoo?)

Well I have no idea where to post questions about gentoo at and I figured this would be the closest match. If there I missed the gentoo forum then I apologize.

My problem is that when I am trying to download the stage 3 .bz2 file it will not save to the hard drive, it saves to the ram disk. I can unpack the file but most of the time it throws errors saying it ran out of room. The last time it completed without errors but after reboot any changes were gone... Could anyone possibly hold my hand through this beginning stage of installing gentoo?

There's no Gentoo forum here. Try http://forums.gentoo.org/.

I'd be more than happy to help you get your gentoo box up and running. What command are you using to extract your stage file?

I used tar xvjpf stage3-*.tar.bz2 but I have since given up. The drive would not mount correctly for some reason and I really messed up grub some how.

I really have no idea what doing and Im going to need more knowledge about linux before I can just compile my own kernel and mess with gentoo. Thanks for the help though. Sorry for the pointless thread brought to you by me again.
