More PTYs? How?

So I'm in chapter 6.13.1 Installation of Binutils. I ran the command
Code:
expect -c "spawn ls"
then I got the error
Code:
The system has no more ptys.
Ask your system administrator to create more.
How do I fix this? Seeing as how it's my laptop that I'm building this on, what do I need to do?

Here's several fixes depending on your host http://wiki.linuxfromscratch.org/ind...20-%20Pass%202

using a debian host. I'll try the
Code:
/dev/MAKEDEV -d $LFS/dev pty
fix first. I don't feel like recompiling my kernel
