more control package management?

I'm using LFS 6 and the more control package management wrappers to install the packages as specific users.

I've built everything to the beginning of Chapter 7 (Bootscripts).

My question is, obviously using this method I would install the bootscripts as a user and not root (this will apply to the kernel in Chapter 8 too). Can the bootscripts and kernel be installed as a non-root user without issues?Or does it have to be done by root? The more control instructions make to reference to this.

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

here is what i found in the hints page, dunno if it is the same you're using:

linux kernel: not installed as package user
modutils.system:
The modutils check if modules are owned by root before using them. This is the reason why the linux kernel should be compiled and installed as root, rather than as a package user.

Yeah thats the same system I'm using albeit a very old version of it.
I guess I'll install the kernel and bootscripts as root then - unless anyone can shed further light?
