Make your own Linux Distribution??

Hi!

I was thinking of creating my own Linux Distribution but the problem I have is that I don't even know where to start.

Does anyone know where I can find such information???

My goal was to make it real small then if everything seems stable start making it bigger.

Thanks!

That's a link to remaster and use Knoppix per se.

You just posted in the Linux from Scratch forum, maybe you should check out www.linuxfromscratch.com to learn more about it as it explains the process of building your own Linux system, etc.

rather than make a new thread, I'll put this link here, If someone wants to do linux from scratch, these are ALL the packages required for version 5.0 (86 in total) including 2.4.22 kernel!!( and all the required patches) The tarball I got from the LFS site was only 43 megs, so I still had to find everything else. So here it is......have fun Ladies/Gents --;)

The link just gave two or three pages of advertising links. I could not find the info you mentioned, even in stuff along the left side of the page. Are they 'out of business' or what?

Are you like the one liner remark expert? What does this statement have to do with anything that is going to help the original question?

Regards.

put your whole / in a .tar.bz2 file while running from some live cd or such and put that on a CD.

All you need then is something like tomsrtbt floppy which can do the partitioning and formatting for you. (and prolly tar with bzip2 support compiled in)

It's not like a real distribution but on the other hand not much effort.

cheers
