You try run 'make menuconfig' in linux-4.2/arch/powerpc/boot? You should run it directly in root of source (in linux-4.2).

I sorry I didn't say that I was trying to build an embedded Linux. Should I run it in the root of source?

Anyways, here is the error I got in the root of source:
Quote:
linux-4.2$ make menuconfig
HOSTCC scripts/basic/fixdep
HOSTCC scripts/kconfig/mconf.o
In file included from scripts/kconfig/mconf.c:23:0:
scripts/kconfig/lxdialog/dialog.h:38:20: fatal error: curses.h: No such file or directory
#include CURSES_LOC
^
compilation terminated.
scripts/Makefile.host:108: recipe for target 'scripts/kconfig/mconf.o' failed
make[1]: *** [scripts/kconfig/mconf.o] Error 1
Makefile:531: recipe for target 'menuconfig' failed
make: *** [menuconfig] Error 2
