looking for a spreadsheet program

I'm looking for a spreadsheet program.

It has been my experience that there are many and that they all fail to compile.

Tried and failed (despite several methods, including editing the source directly, using slackbuilds, sym-linking like a mofo):

gnumeric
sc
sprsht
oleo
xpread
slsc

I am aware that libreoffice & open office both have a spreadsheet included but I'd rather not have to install of that of that mess just for the spreadsheet. it's kind of like purchasing a car just to sit and listen to its radio. I want just the radio.

Thank you.

Gnumeric git sources compile currently out of the box and snapshots have never been a problem. Which kind of difficulty do you run into?

I should also mention that it compiled without perl support. I was unable to fix the perl aspect. It also failed to compile with --enable-introspection=yes. In addition, pdf support is absent. However, I am not a spreadsheet expert and only use it occasionally. So the missing pieces don't bother me.

introspection

you might like to see how LFS does it
http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/blfs.../gnumeric.html

you will notice they mention gobject-intro*

so then you might like to see slackbuild
https://slackbuilds.org/slackbuilds/...ion.SlackBuild

Maybe I didn't make it clear. I followed the book. I installed those dependencies and cut and paste the instructions. The problem was in the link stage. Something about the gobject shared library it didn't like. Anyway, I ended up using the default compile options which is without introspection.

As Michael Uplawski has pointed out (thank you, sir) there is a preponderance of off-topic replies.

This thread was started to request names of spreadsheet programs other than those listed in the original post.

To be exact, you started off claiming that those that you listed would not compile. This is found to be wrong.

Anyway, in the meantime, it was discovered that LibreOffice (a) compiles fine as directed in the [B]LFS 8.1 book and (b) has a spreadsheet program.
