LiveCD error

Hi,

Im new to LFS and thought Id use the LiveCD as it apparently has everything I need to get going.

Thing is when I boot I keep getting errors popping up when I have to enter my locale etc.

A couple of lines which include
Unknown key pressed....
"Use 'setkeycodes e059 <keycode>' to make it known."

It will only come up after I press a key (but not immediatly, only sometimes) otherwise my keyboard seems to work fine.

Does anyone know what is happening? Of all the steps I thought I might get stuck on I didnt think it would be the first!

Hope someone can help

I have disk x86-6.1.1-3

Ive just plugged in a different keyboard and its fine now.

But I now have another query....

It boots the system fine, I get a bit of "greeting" text (ie 'type "greeting" to display this message again') but then a flashing cursor and nothing else.

I got the impression it had a desktop environment built in but I dont get one.

Am I getting the wrong idea about this LiveCD or am I falling short of the very first task!!

Hope someone can help

Rik

lfs desktop enviroment

Hi rick!

After booting the live cd and reading the greeting messages, you enter: startx
from the prompt and your desktop is there in no time!

Hi,

Thanks for the reply.

Ive tried this on two different computers and I just get a blank screen on both.

The monitors OSD simply says it cant display.

Well I got it working.....

After passing POST I pressed F1, typed in "linux expert" pressed enter and then after that greeting message typed startx.

If I dont do that linux expert bit it doesnt work?

I dont know whay that does the trick, all I know is that it works!

Incidently Im only here now because im stuck on something else now! :)
