But as you can see, from GRUB and Kernel side of the book is completely different than the link of the html tutorial I got.
I am building my GRUB, it is as ready as it boots for my kernel file I have compiled. And I skip all of the modules from the tuto, cause I don't need em....
So far I have plenty of things to do different, and the reason I think, just I don't realise the version for the live set I have.
Are you using the lfs live cd? If so that has an old kernel and it only has grub.
The version in the book and the online version use a newer version and use grub2
Can I ask have you followed and built everything acording to the book or skipped alot of it,
Have you completed all chapters as per book7.1 1 through to 8.
You say you have the old kernel, In chapter 5.6 it tells you linux 3.2.6.
If you had been following book this is the 1 you would have done.
First I follow it precisely couple of modules and they wont work as they should been done for the book. Cause I think of the reason for the old Live CD I have.
So I restart hole thing, again with old live CD and 7.1 book. But this time I only compile the kernel and built up the GRUB. I have not tested about to boot up and repair things they should done with the old book.
Well I would like to keep things portable and clean. One of my goal is to drop this project completely different environment when ready (process control PC) with dedicated Assembler program.
I dont know how to help any more you are trying to use 2 different things.
What ever way you manage to get it to work you would end up with the same thing at the end i.e a working lfs system I dont understand
I think it is not relevant where I going to use my installation, I just want to keep it "old". Final set is going to be old process controller and newer need to be up on date. Only documented "live CD" disk near by.
I think I try to read old manual and use live set designed for that. There is nothing different in this.
I will post more, when I have test to build up my stuff with that..
