When I run make mrproper in the kernel source dir I get:
--------------- I have no name!:/usr/src/linux-2.4.19# make mrproper
make: /bin/sh: Command not found
Èå
Èå
make: /bin/sh: Command not found

Makefile:252: arch//Makefile: No such file or directory
make: /bin/sh: Command not found

`ç
make: *** No rule to make target `arch//Makefile'. Stop.
---------------
Earlier, I ran the: export CFLAGS="-O3 -march=<athlon-xp>" &&
CXXFLAGS=$CFLAGS
command from: http://hints.linuxfromscratch.org/hi...timization.txt
to optimize the building of the system. Now the value athlon-xp is not in the arch folder but it is an acceptable value listing here
I have followed all the commands in the manual of lfs carefully.
Thanks in advance.
First: You re-opened an ancient thread (2003) for this, next time start a new thread so it gets the attention it needs.
Did you unpack the linux kernel source, enter the directory and then run the make mrproper command?
PS: Do read the error message carefully, your error doesn't have anything to do with the error the OP posted:
Original by OP: I have no name!:/usr/src/linux-2.4.19# make mrproper
make: /bin/sh: Command not found
Your error: root:/# make mrproper
make: *** No rule to make target `mrproper'. Stop.
In this case creating the link (bash -> sh) doesn't hurt (should have been done already...), but in other cases you could do more damage by "just" executing/implementing commands.
