lilo synch

I know that you have to run lilo after you reconfigure the kernel, but I can't get mine to work.

Lilo from my Redhat distro works well, but not from the lfs side. In lfs I get the "no /boot/message" error. So I copied the one from Redhat to /boot in lfs. However, then it complains that it can't find initre-2.4.7-10.img, which is for Redhat.

Why does Redhat not have this problem when I run lilo there?

Also, will running lilo from Redhat be enough when I rebuild the kernel in lfs?

If you copy the redhat lilo.conf you must copy also all of redhat's kernel images. This is explained in the book. Look in the lilo.conf file for any and each kernel and intitrd file it might use, then copy it over. Basically, when lilo in LFS complains about a missing file, just go get the file from Redhat's /boot directory.

Or, clean out LFS' version of /etc/lilo.conf so you don't need all those other files.
