I installed LFS 4.1 and my is 10.6 Mb, on my mandrake it's only 1.2 Mb? Why is there such a difference? Thanks

This is just a guess, but did you strip out the debugging info? I don't know for sure if shared-object libraries contain that information, but then again, I don't see why they wouldn't. I would bet Mandrake would remove the debugging info simply because they wouldn't think the majority of users would ever have any use for it.

This may be the problem, I can't remember if I did so. But I'm sure that my was much smaller on LFS 3.1, so I will try to strip out the debugging info, to see if it helps.
