LFS with different kernel version

Hi

I would like to build an LFS system with a realtime kernel. This simply means I apply a realtime patch before compiling the kernel.
The thing is, the realtime patches are written for specific kernel versions, typically not the exact same version as the one recommended in the LFS book.

So what I would try the is simply do LFS by the book, except use a differen kernel version.
E.g. do the LFS 7.1 book, but use kernel 3.4-rc2 instead of 3.2.6. (or 3.3.1 in the dev book).

Does this sound like an intelligent thing to try or am I going to run into (a lot of) trouble?

Hi,

Although I haven't tried using a real-time kernel, using a different (newer) kernel then mentioned isn't a problem.

I always use the newest stable kernel when building LFS.

Hope this helps.
