Question LFS linux-2.4.22 install eror

i need help
i'm trying to make a LFS by the book and i have a problem.
i downloaded the necesary packages and patches and i've done everything by the book. I've installed binutils and gcc-core pass 1.
when i try to install linux-2.4.22 package as the book say, i have problems. I unpack the archive, "make mrproper"(that work), "make include/linux/version.h"-that desn't work-, i recive the next message: "no rule to make target /include/linux/version.h . Stop" . version.h doesn't exist. I tried to skip this step but the next one doesn't work neither ("make symlinks") .
so what shall i do???

pls HELP.
