LFS dosen't boot
Hi I've finally finished building LFS... but now I
can't get it to boot ! I'm running lilo, and when I try
and enter LFS the computer automagically restarts.
any suggestions on what I did wrong ?
P.S.
as my computer Is really slow, (166Mhz +32MBRAM)
I wrote a script to install LFS (it's actually seven)
each one does a different part of the install so they
can be used separately.if anyone is interested let me
know & i'll upload them.

Most causes of kernels spontaneously rebooting is that it was compiled with the wrong CPU setting. By default a kernel will be compiled for a PIII. You don't have a PIII so you have to go in the kernel menuconfig and change the setting that matches yours. Then recompile and try again.

oh, I remember now that when i did "menuconfig " I only had a
option for P-III. I thought at the time it was a bit odd. well now I
have to see how I get menuconfig to let me compile on a P-I.
P.S to safrout : the scripts do:
basic dir making - copying /unpacking packages
compiling / install stage 1.
chrooting
installing glibc
installing software stage 2
making config files ( still working on it)
I'll try and upload them soon ( I'll put up a new post)

to change the cpu... when you're in menuconfig, select "processor type and features" then leave the selected line at the top where it says "pentium lll" and hit enter again. That should do it... good luck
