LFS cheating

Can I "cheat" and instead of compiling everything from source,
just copy the binaries and lib's to thier respective dir's?

also, are all those files in LFS really nessacery? is there some list
which describes what files a minimal linux needs?

I don't know about the binaries thing. Why would you want to risk it?? And all those files in LFS are pretty much a minimal install except for maybe the reiserfsprogs and some assorted others which you don't absolutely need but are very good to have.

Maybe this will help?

It sounds like you don't really care about the disk space, but more about the time though.

Maybe you should stay with redhat if you want to use pre-compiled binaries.
