LFS 8.0 chapter 6 perl-5.24.1 needs "less" compiled first

perl-5.24.1 compile was giving me errors. After puzzling over this for a couple hours I saw that the configure was wanting to use "less" but "less" isn't compiled and installed yet at that point. I went ahead and installed "less" and went back to Perl and the compile worked just fine. I haven't seen this reported so I thought I would mention it here.

You shouldn't be getting this. LFS configures perl to use /usr/bin/less as a pager but the perl build doesn't depend on less being present at that point. Can you post your errors? Were they fatal to the build? If it was just a warning that less wasn't found, that's not a problem.

I didn't keep a record of the errors but make failed to complete until I installed less. It wasn't just warnings. I'll try renaming less since it's installed now and try the compile again to see if I can reproduce the error.

Ok. I just did a compile of perl-5.24.1 and it worked perfectly this time. I guess you're right. While I was doing this however I remembered what the error was I was getting before. I tried to compile this for 2 hours and it kept failing, complaining about a problem with "miniperl" like it couldn't find it or something was wrong with it. Maybe my computer was tired from so many hours compiling. I don't know what happened now. So I guess never mind?
