LFS 8.0 6.30. Flex-2.6.3 did not compile & install libfl_pic.so

Hello all,

In LFS 8.0 Chapter 6.30, Flex-2.6.3, the file libfl_pic.so did not compile and install.

Running 'make check' gave one fail,
Code:
FAIL: cxx_restart
The same fail happened for the two build-logs. (My own CPU is similar to the two used, "i7-3820QM".)

Does anyone know if the change from flex-2.6.1 (7.10) to the new flex-2.6.3 resulted in libfl_pic.so no longer being installed?

Thanks,
Dave

A fail during "make check" doesn't prevent you from running "make install". Also, pay closer attention to the notes on that page...

Quote:
One test, cxx_restart, is known to fail.
^ That's printed right below "make check" in the instructions. Just install the package and move on.

Hey Luridis,

Thanks for the reply, and sorry for the confusion about the cxx_restart fail. (I must have been tired.)

However, my LFS 7.10 installed both libfl.so.* and libfl_pic.so.*, but my 8.0 just installed the first. Am I still good to just install and move on?

It may have been taken out upstream and the LFS dev team just didn't notice it and remove it from the installed programs list at the bottom. So, without checking with the upstream Flex maintainers we can't know for sure. However, I'm all the way into running a GUI on LFS 8.0 and have never seen an error regarding Flex and here's what's installed on mine.

Quote:
root [ / ]# find -name libfl*
./usr/lib/libfl.so.2
./usr/lib/libfl.so
./usr/lib/libfl.so.2.0.0
root [ / ]#
I can't imagine it's a large problem. If you're very curious, check the upstream changelog.

Actually, I just checked the changelog on Flex's GitHub repository...

*** the PIC version of libfl was not correctly built. It is no longer included in the build/installation targets of flex since it was unused.
